F G Davis Artists Statement.
My name is Frederick George Davis, though most people know me as George. I have recently moved house from Devon to Dorset and am anticipating an exciting new beginning, working and exhibiting in the area. I am principally known for my non-figurative paintings which typically use bright colours and bold patterns, often incorporating mixed media and textile elements. Most of my art records personal experiences, thoughts and insights, often allied to some event, personal or public. Art can of course provide an escape into the realm of memory and imagination when pressures on our everyday freedoms are threatened. In the process of coping with these it can also reveal ways of assimilating and understanding the journeys we have embarked upon; not just as artists, but as individuals, navigating the complexity of our personal experiences, relationships and feelings. Art can help us to come to terms with who we are, what we value and where we are going.
ABOUT THE ARTIST.

He has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad with work in private collections worldwide. He is a member of several societies, including St Ives Society of Artists, The St Ives Arts Club and The Bruton Art Society. His work ranges from bright colourful
abstracts, mixed media assemblages, experiments in texture and surface qualities and
